| Home Lovango VacationsWelcome to Lovango Cay where seclusion is a way of life and your front door is the Caribbean Sea. We are located 2 miles north of Cruz Bay, St John, in the US Virgin Islands or just a short 10 minute boat ride away. A 15 minute boat ride to the east-northeast and you have reached Red Hook, St. Thomas. Featured in national magazines, this unique, custom timber home is the greenest house in the USVI! This beautiful island home is completely powered by the sun and wind with satellite access to tv and internet. A white sandy beach, palm trees, and a boat dock at your front door makes this truly an island paradise. Lovango CayThis 118 acre island, 2 miles north of Cruz Bay, St John is home to only 5 full time residents, who are considered St. Johnians. Years ago, in the mid 1800s, there were over 50 people living on Lovango where fishing was the industry of choice. It is not surprising with the deep water anchorage on the Southside, sailing vessels would have easily made anchorage here. There are no utility lines from St John to Lovango. Most of the homes have solar and wind power to generate their own electrical power, which is stored in batteries then transformed into regular 120 volt a/c current. Our wildlife includes numerous bird species and of course goats. The goats that you may see around the northside of Lovango are wild goats now, decendents of the goats left from earlier settlers. Green PowerThe Love Shack and Beach Cottage are totally off the grid; self generating green energy by utilizing 42 voltaic solar panels that produce over 7000 watts of power hourly (during peak sunshine hours) and a 3.5 kilo watt wind turbine generator. When the sun and wind do not cooperate there is a backup 21 kilo watt diesel powered generator and a backup for the backup is a 6 kilo watt diesel generator. TransportationThere is a daily boat ride to St. John available to our guests. Please let us know a day in advance so we can schedule your travel plans. We have two inflatables and two larger fiberglass lobster style boats to transport our guests. ServicesPick
